How a Fair Alert Delivery Benchmark Would Work
A protocol is not a completed benchmark; comparable real logs are required before naming a speed winner.
Predeclare a comparable setup
Specify the selected products, routes, destinations and exact endpoint meanings. Separate dispatch-to-receipt from display-to-review. Freeze the environment and observation population before inspecting results. A benchmark comparing one vendor's server acknowledgement with another's phone display would measure different processes even if both values were called latency.
Document clock sources, justified error bounds and missing endpoints. Preserve the original raw events so the assumptions can be checked. A convenient timestamp precision is not a clock calibration. If the available error dominates the observed difference, the sample cannot establish the claimed ordering.
Keep failures inside the report
Count expected originals, delivery attempts and observed receipts according to separate definitions. Retain nonreceipt, late objects, malformed content, duplicate attempts and unknown intervals. The summary should reveal both successful timings and what could not be timed. Excluding failures can make a fragile route appear fast.
Any future distribution statistic needs its sample size, units and inclusion rules. A small set does not justify a broad uptime or tail-latency promise. Do not create a percentile from a synthetic expected dataset or describe software tests as a strategy-validation sample. A benchmark concerns the declared operational boundary, not subscriber profit.
Publish evidence before ranking
A reproducible result should link the safe raw artifacts, environment, protocol and calculation version. Redact secrets without destroying event identity or the denominator. Explain untested devices and alternative routes. If paid access or a private integration was not tested, the review should say so.
BTA has not run comparable paid-feed latency measurements. Its directory therefore presents published mechanisms and missing artifacts, not numeric vendor scores. The free tools organise a reader's assumptions and original records; successful use of the tool does not provide independent measurements for the products listed.

Official references describe published mechanisms. BTA's evidence packets and proposed test procedures do not claim a completed paid-feed or account trial.
