Copy Trading vs Alerts: Where Does Authority Begin?
An observed message and a delegated account action have different evidence and risk boundaries.
Find the point where exposure can change
A human-readable alert can leave a buyer free to ignore it. A copying relationship can cause account activity under saved settings without that intermediate review. The distinction is not simply notification speed. It concerns which system is authorised to act, what quantity it may affect and how source and follower histories are reconciled.
Record the chosen source identity and selected configuration. Joining an existing source position is not the same event as receiving its original entry. The follower may have different timing, balances, instrument mappings or execution outcomes. Do not use a source return as if it were the follower's audited result.
Keep account state separate from transport
A notification that an action was attempted does not prove acceptance or fill. Retain broker responses, partial states and failures where an account test is actually authorised. A stop or disconnect event can also leave exposure requiring attention. BTA cannot establish the current state of an account from a message history.
Configuration is part of the evidence, not a footnote. Preserve risk controls, participation settings, permissions and the environment that maintains the connection. Review the selected vendor's procedure before making changes. This publication does not connect accounts or recommend a live test simply to obtain a more impressive review sample.
Ask a category-appropriate buying question
If you want external ideas without delegation, investigate instruction completeness and delivery. If you intend to delegate, investigate account authority, reconciliation and stopping conditions. A copier can be well documented yet unsuitable for a buyer who does not want that authority. A notification service can be useful yet incapable of maintaining positions on the buyer's behalf.
The comparison therefore uses mechanism and missing artifacts, not an invented universal success rate. Source-linked product notes establish published controls only. Actual follower fills, private seller quality and end-to-end reliability remain untested unless a dated record explicitly demonstrates them.
